My life was completely altered by my tour as a combat veteran in Iraq. I came to find meaning in that experience. I also came to see that I have learned skills that I wanted to share with others.

Online Counseling

I am passionate about getting to know people as individuals and finding effective ways to help them make meaningful progress in various areas of their lives – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. If you’re lacking purpose, motivation, or direction for your life, Christian counseling can help. Together we will develop a treatment plan catered to your unique needs. I will be attentive to the methods that work for you and those that don’t, ensuring that we find a path to help you increase your overall well-being, reach your goals, and experience personal growth.

My Goal as a Christian Counselor

My goal as your counselor is to help you to develop self-awareness, insight, and emotional interdependency. I hope that through our sessions together, you will gain knowledge and coping skills that can help you navigate this difficult world.

What I Offer in Christian Counseling

I offer a safe, comfortable space where you can share your story and concerns. After listening to the reasons that led you to pursue therapy, I will work with you to establish a realistic treatment plan. At the beginning of each session, I will follow your lead to see if you have a direction you’d like to take; if not, I will guide our conversation to help you make the progress you desire.

My Approach to Christian Counseling

Having a Christian therapist can help clients intertwine their mental health and relationship with God. One benefit of a Christian approach to counseling is that Christian clients can receive a faith-based therapeutic perspective that they are unable to get from non-Christian counselors. I am transparent about my faith, but it is not the primary focus of my work unless a client requests spiritual direction.

Qualifications & Experience

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with eight years of experience. I have an M.A. in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University and a B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling from Azusa Pacific University. I am also trained in Interpersonal Therapy Level A.

My Call to Christian Counseling

I’ve wanted to be a therapist since I was 18. I knew that I was a very self-aware, emotionally sensitive, and insightful individual. I have a genuine desire to get to know each client as a human being. I find it very easy to listen to others and am interested in solving personal problems. I like to observe and analyze people. In high school, my friends always confided in me about their problems because they saw that I was trustworthy.

More About Me/On a Personal Note

In my spare time I enjoy self-reflection, listening to music, weightlifting, hanging out with friends, karaoke, and surfing.

Anxiety

Anxiety comes in different shapes and sizes. I will cater your treatment methods based on which type of anxiety you are dealing with and what symptoms you are experiencing. Techniques I use to help reduce anxiety for my clients include: grounding, progressive muscle relaxation technique, journal writing, and finding the source of that anxiety.

Coaching

In addition to being a licensed therapist, I have been offering life coaching since 2017. I love to help people find purpose in their lives, increase their motivation, and guide them in which direction they should go, with God’s help.

Depression

Depression is one of the most common mental disorders. When treating clients, I often use CBT techniques: identifying and reframing unhelpful thought pattern triangle, CBT triangle, and thought mood log. I ask clients to challenge their own thoughts by using Socratic questioning. With God’s help and the use of proven therapeutic techniques, it is possible to find relief from the darkness of depression.

Personal Development

I would be happy to work with you to help you reach your personal development goals. In sessions, I use tools to assess self-reflection, organization, physical fitness, diet, sleep patterns, and work and personal relationships to help you find ways to improve your life and interactions with others.

Relationship Issues

If you are struggling with relationship issues, I would be honored to work with you. These relationships could be personal, occupational, religious, etc. When helping clients experiencing relational conflict, I often use communication tools, self-awareness, role playing, and empathy to help clients manage and deal with relationship issues.
